This fall, Arts Place is expanding its MusicWorks program to include a handbell choir. The Arts Place Ringers is open for registration at this time. The ensemble is open to those who enjoy playing handbells as well as those interested in learning a new skill.

The choir will meet for rehearsals on Tuesdays from September 4th through November 13th. On November 13th, a public performance will be held at Arts Place Portland Center. The Arts Place Ringers will be divided into two sections. Middle school students in grades six through eight will meet from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. each Tuesday. Adults and high school students will meet from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. each Tuesday. The choir will be directed by Carol Smith, who also directs the Asbury United Methodist Handbell Choir.

The fee for participating in the eleven week handbell program is $20. Interested individuals may register by calling 260-726-4809 or visiting the Portland Center of Arts Place at 131 East Walnut Street in Portland, Indiana.
