Nurse practitioner Elizabeth “Beth” Hanna, FNP-BC, has joined the medical staff of Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital Family Medicine— in Hart. She began seeing patients this week, following an intensive orientation to her new office and the Spectrum Health system.

She joins Beth Hartrum, FNP-BC and Allan Nelson, MD, as medical providers in the Hart office.

“We are very fortunate to have Beth Hanna join our practice,” said Dr. Nelson. “She is exceptionally knowledgeable and experienced. With Beth Hanna and Beth Hartrum, our patients in the Hart area will be served by two of the most capable nurse practitioners with whom I’ve been associated.”

Hanna earned her associates degree in nursing from Lansing Community College, and both BA and MSN degrees from Michigan State University. She completed her MSN studies in 2010, when she started work as a nurse practitioner at Sparrow Hospital’s St. Johns family medicine practice—a setting very similar to her new role in Hart.

Just prior to moving to the Oceana County practice she was a nurse practitioner in the family medicine clinic at the College of Osteopathic Medicine at MSU.

Hanna has experience in a full range of family medical care. She said she takes a particular interest in helping patients managing chronic diseases and in preventative health and wellness. She also has extensive experience in helping people deal with respiratory issues, such as asthma.

She was attracted to the Hart practice because she and her husband, Jeff, a former Lansing firefighter, have family in the area. Hanna’s brother and sister-in-law, for example, are veterinarians who live nearby. Another lure was the natural amenities the area has to offer.

“We were also impressed that this area had the foresight to set aside so many public beaches,” Hanna said, “as we’ve spent time in other locales where public beaches were much harder to find.”

Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital operates offices in Hart and Pentwater under the leadership of Dr. Nelson, who consults with patients at both locations. The Hart office is located at 2481 N. 72nd Ave. Appointments are available with Beth Hanna by calling 231-873-2163.
