The sheriff's offices in Seneca and Cayuga counties are partnering this summer to enhance navigation patrols on Cayuga Lake.

Seneca County Sheriff Tim Luce and Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck said their offices have created patrol schedules for maximum coverage on the lake without duplication of services.

"It is a great pleasure to work with the Cayuga County Sheriff's Office," Luce said in a press release. "I believe this collaboration between the two sheriff's offices will create a much safer and pleasurable experience for all who enjoy Cayuga Lake this year."

"Working together, we can provide additional patrol coverage on Cayuga Lake this boating season by avoiding duplication and working to provide patrols during time frames that would not have otherwise been covered," Schenck added. "This partnership will not only improve safety for those on the lake, it will be positive from a fiscal standpoint for both agencies as well, as we work to better utilize our resources together."
