MANISTEE — Chief Boatswain’s Mate Adam Fredrickson of Coast Guard Station Manistee embodies the guard’s motto, Semper Paratus — Always Ready.

Personable and professional — the 18-year veteran of the Coast Guard routinely greets people with a smile and a handshake — the 37-year-old officer in charge in Manistee will be relieved as officer in charge in time-honored tradition on Thursday when he will be replaced by Chief Warrant Officer Jesse W. Bruce.

The change of command ceremony, set to begin at 10 a.m., was announced recently by Captain Thomas J. Stuhlreyer, commander of Sector Lake Michigan, which oversees operations of Coast Guard Station Manistee. Fredrickson is moving on to his next duty station in California.
