An accident early Sunday caused the death of two Farmington men. The accident was reported at 1:17 a.m. Sunday.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, Robert Leroy Boyd, 28, of Kahoka, Mo., was driving a 2000 Ford pickup west on Highway 2 near 140th Avenue when he failed to negotiate a curve.
He over corrected and crossed the center line, where his vehicle struck another in an offset head-on manner.
Laverne M. Faulkner, 63, of Farmington, was driving the second vehicle, a 2005 GMC Yukon. Both vehicles came to rest in the south ditch of Highway 2.
Lavern Faulkner and Michael Paul Faulkner, 39, of Farmington were killed in the accident. Michael Faulkner was listed as being transported to UnityPoint Health-Keokuk by Lee County EMS.
Boyd was taken to the University of Iowa Hospital by Lee County EMS, according to the report.
No one in the accident was wearing a seatbelt, according to the Iowa State Patrol.
The accident remains under investigation.
Assisting at the scene were the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Donnellson/West Point Police Department, Donnellson Fire and Rescue Lee County EMS and the Medical Examiner’s Office.
