INJURY ACCIDENT

On December 16, 2019 at 7:34 p.m. Darke County Sheriff’s Deputies along with Greenville Township Rescue and Greenville Township Fire Department responded to the 500 block of Eidson Road on a two vehicle injury accident.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a black 2004 Saturn Vue, driven by Justin Strickland (28), of Greenville, was traveling east on Eidson Road. The driver lost control of the vehicle, causing the vehicle to slide sideways into the path of a black 2004 Honda Civic, driven by Bradley McDonald (41), of New Madison. A passenger of the Saturn, Karlisa Ditty (29), of Greenville, was transported to Wayne Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Mr. Strickland was cited for Failure to Control and Driving Under Suspension.

This accident remains under investigation.

FATAL SNOWMOBILE ACCIDENT

On December 17, 2019 at 8:45 p.m. Darke County Sheriff Deputies along with Ansonia Police Department, Ansonia Rescue Squad, Ansonia Fire Department and Rossburg Fire Department were dispatched to a snowmobile accident in the 11,000 block of State Route 118.

Preliminary information revealed that a 1997 Red Ski Doo snowmobile driven by Jonathan Gehret (18), of Versailles, Ohio, was traveling westbound through a field. Mr. Gehret drove off the east side embankment of the North Fork Stillwater River and struck the west embankment. Mr. Gehret was pronounced deceased at the scene. Darke County Coroner’s Office was requested to the scene by first responders.

This case will remain under investigation.

SNOWMOBILE ACCIDENT

On December 17, 2019 at 9:38 p.m. Darke County Sheriff Deputies along with Union City Rescue and Ansonia Fire Department were dispatched to a snowmobile accident in the 11,100 block of Coletown Lightsville Road.

Preliminary information revealed that a 1998 Yamaha snowmobile driven by Jacob Breymier (24), of Union City, Ohio, was traveling eastbound through an open field. Mr. Breymeier drove off a creek embankment and struck the opposite side. Mr. Breymier was transported to Wayne Healthcare by Union City Rescue for treatment of his injuries.

This case will remain under investigation.
